Unstillness
When you look at people around, rarely do you see human beings in stillness. People are endlessly in motion and this endless motion seems to gain speed every year. We cannot be still. We are on the go, with no breaks. We all know how hard it was to still the body when we first started practicing meditation. Maybe you still struggle with this simple, but yet often almost impossible, action of sitting still.
The legs were falling asleep, the back muscles were aching, we felt itchy everywhere…and much more. Once we were settled with the body we faced even bigger challenges by trying to still the mind. Who said nothing can go faster then the speed of light? We know how fast the mind races when we force it into stillness. We can be in different parts of the world in one moment, we can travel through time in a second, we can move between extreme emotions in an instant.
So why, for most of us, is being still so difficult?
Because nothing, inside or outside us, is still.

Meditation in motion
WATCHING the graceful and fluid body manoeuvres of tai qi practitioners moving together in harmony is deeply therapeutic. According to them, tai qi is “meditation in movement” as it emphasises the importance of living in the present moment.
The power of colour
COLOURS play an important part in our lives. Colours travel through our eyes to our brain, causing physical reactions in our bodies.
Colours can stimulate our nervous system, alter emotional states and affect hormonal release. Today, we will look at the properties of different colours and how we can use colours in our daily life.
Harnessing harmony from nature
All of us have at some point in our lives felt “out of sorts”, or just “under the weather”, and such emotional distress can lead to a physical ailment. But apart from seeing your friendly neighbourhood doctor for a prescription and that much needed medical certificate so that you can have a little mental holiday, some prefer an alternative form of therapy.
Spiritual marriage
Love is the ultimate outlaw. It just won't adhere to any rules. The most any of us can do is to sign on as its accomplice. Instead of vowing to honour and obey, maybe we should swear to aid and abet. That would mean that security is out of the question. The words "make" and "stay" become inappropriate. My love for you has no strings attached. I love you for free.
- Tom Robbins.
As I step gingerly into the next phase of my life, I contemplate the concept of ‘marriage’ - the word which sent shivers down my spine for as far as I remember. Thinking about marriage always brought forth pictures of the loss of my personal freedom, being stuck, endless responsibilities, unhappiness… you get my point. It signified the end of the life that I have known.
Now, the paradox is that I found freedom and joy once I chose to walk down the road that I have resisted for so long. All the dreadful things I had anticipated before did not surface. I don’t know about how life would be in the future but I believe I have the power to create my own reality. I embrace this ‘new’ partnership with open arms and an open heart.
People marry for so many reasons - to ensure physical survival, for economic reasons, to comply with social, legal, spiritual or religious traditions. Since the existence of this ancient institution of marriage, love being the main reason for marriage is a relatively new phenomenon.
Fasting can change your life!
"The greatest discovery by modern man is the power to rejuvenate physically, mentally, and spiritually with rational fasting." - Paul Bragg
Fasting is the act of willingly abstaining from some or all food, drink, or both, for a period of time. Fasting has been practiced by humans as a natural instinct for self preservation. Other than using herbs from nature, fasting was really the only method for healing known by the primitive man. They would fast when they are hurt or ill.
Discovering past lives
Do you sometimes get glimpses of your previous incarnations in your dreams? Do you find certain places very familiar despite it being your first visit there?
In certain religions, the human narrative is relatively straightforward. You were born. You lived. You died. After a judgment, you went to heaven (or hell) forever and ever. Eternity was the end: no appeals allowed.
